Our Diary for Brainsmead, Cuckfield

These new works were started by our Chris & Neil in late February 2004. Works were based on a consultation given by Ian given in mid December 2003 and finished 1st week of March.

This is the original view on my consultation

I suggested the following which was subsequently agreed:-

The drive was to be widened to allow for 2 car spaces. Also I wanted to create a welcome to the front door. On my first visit the front door seemed hidden away! We wanted to create something a little special and went for real stone sets laid over a reinforced concrete sub base.

These stone sets are available in 2 sizes and currently are on offer in 3 colours. The Raj Green, otherwise known as buff or brown were chosen. They are in 200 x 100 and 100x100 sizes and come from India! The cost of these sets is only about £10 a m³more expensive than block paving. However if laid properly you do need to lay on a reinforced concrete sub base. Each set/brick has to be individually pointed. We do not brush in the mortar!!
